Heanor: Man arrested after woman in her 70s hit by car

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian in her 70s was hit by a car.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Hardy Barn, near Heanor in Derbyshire, at 19:25 GMT on Friday.

The woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a blue Vauxhall Corsa on the A6007 between Ilkeston and Heanor.

Derbyshire Police said a man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

The force said he had since been released on bail.

It added the woman remained in hospital, where she has been receiving treatment for her injuries.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, understood to have happened between 19:10 and 19:30.
