Derby: Police warn drivers over school parking problems

Police plan to step up patrols in one area of Derby after rising tensions over school run parking.
Officers in Allestree said they had received an increasing number of complaints from residents who have had access blocked.
In a social media post, they reminded motorists that offending vehicles could be ticketed or removed.
Responding to this, one resident said they frequently received abuse if they asked people to move out of the way.
A statement on the Allestree SNT Facebook, external page warned about potential penalties as officers have made "frequent checks in response to an increase in complaints from residents".
It added: "Please do not obstruct the pavement, park over dropped kerbs and driveways, or on yellow lines outside of schools between the times stated on nearby signage.
"Please do not double park across from other cars on narrow streets, as emergency service vehicles may struggle to access nearby roads and houses."
'Huge' issue
One resident, who did not wish to be named, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: "Parents have parked right up my drive, leaving little room for me to get out.
"It's chaos. Sometimes I have a difficult job to get into my drive because of the way people park.
"In the past I've had people swear at me or they'll say 'we'll only be a few minutes'. It makes me annoyed."
Another said they had resorted to telling guests not to come during the school run as their drive would likely be blocked.
Commenting on the police's post, resident Alana Holmes said it was a "huge" issue.
She said: "The residents of Woodlands Road don't actually have a problem with people parking for the school, as they have to park somewhere, but it's not being done safely and considerably. Some just don't care unfortunately.
"When you ask a parent to not park in front of your drive as they are blocking you, you just get abuse from them every time. They don't like being told what to do."
