Riddings: Man arrested as woman seriously injured in assault

A woman is in a critical condition after an assault in a Derbyshire village.
Officers were called to a house in Greenhill Lane, Riddings, at 1:20 GMT after a report was made.
The woman, who is in her 20s, was found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, the force added.
A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.
Police said the incident is understood to be domestic in nature and the victim and suspect are known to one another.
A scene is in place and a police presence will be visible in the area throughout the day.
Officers investigating the assault have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
