A community skate park in Derbyshire has reopened following a £190,000 refurbishment.

New equipment and ramps have been installed at the site in Killamarsh as part of the project, which has also seen new surfaces added.

North East Derbyshire District Council said the refurbishment was supported by UK Shared Prosperity Funding and the Safer Streets Fund.

The authority said the skate park was for the "whole community to enjoy".

Councillor Steve Pickering, member for the environment, said: "The park has been transformed and is yet another example of how we are investing into our communities to provide quality services and equipment for everyone to enjoy.

"We can't wait for you to bring your BMXs, skateboards and skates down and enjoy."

The council said the gates of the skate park, located to the side of Killamarsh Active in Stanley Street, would be locked at night to keep the facility secure.
