Roadwork 'challenges' delay Crich Tramway Village reopening

A tourist attraction has decided to push back its reopening due to the "challenges" of nearby roadworks.
Crich Tramway Village was set to welcome back visitors for the new season on Saturday.
But roadworks and installation works in the area are making travel in and out of the village difficult, bosses say.
This includes closures on Leashaw due to a landslip, and Roes Lane and Top Lane for Openreach communications infrastructure works.
In order "to ensure the health, safety and ease of access" of staff and visitors, a new opening date of 16 March has been set for the home of the National Tramway Museum.
General manager at Crich Tramway Village, Dr Mike Galer, said: "We have had a lot of challenges with ongoing works and road closures around Crich, and our main aim is to ensure the health, safety and ease of access for our teams and visitors.
"We are very sorry to disappoint our visitors who had planned to attend during the original opening week, but we believe that the delay of one week to our opening, will provide a much better experience for all concerned."
Anyone who has purchased online tickets for the opening week will be able to use them later in the season, the attraction says.
