Dobbie the Dobermann had been microchipped but had no details registered to him, the RSPCA says

An abandoned Dobermann puppy has been rescued after being found cowering in bushes in a Derbyshire village.

The 10-month-old dog, named Dobbie, was spotted by a runner in Morton Road, Stretton, on Wednesday 6 March.

He was taken to the vets where he received care.

Animal charity RSPCA, which is appealing for anyone with information to get in touch, said there were no registered details for the dog on the database, despite being microchipped.

'Clearly terrified'

Inspector Pam Bird, from the charity, said it was "heartbreaking" to think how long he had been left abandoned for.

"It was purely by chance that this poor puppy was spotted by the runner," she said.

"He was cowering in bushes and was clearly terrified.

"We are so thankful that the member of the public helped get this dog to safety at a vets, and to the staff at Medivet in Alfreton who looked after him - and absolutely fell in love with him."
