Derby: Man fatally stabbed victim before flying to Tenerife

A man who fatally stabbed another man in Derby before flying to Tenerife has been jailed for nine years and two months.
Brandon Froggatt, 21, admitted stabbing Corey Duffy four times during an attack in Cooper Street on 11 June.
Mr Duffy died from his injuries at the nearby Burdett Lodge Probation Hostel, where he had been living at the time.
Froggatt, previously of Ashley Street in Derby, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Tuesday.
Derbyshire Police was called to the hostel in Bass Street at about 15:45 GMT, where Mr Duffy was discovered collapsed in the foyer and covered in blood, the court heard. He was pronounced dead less than an hour later, despite emergency surgery.
A post-mortem examination showed Mr Duffy's cause of death was stab wounds to the chest, of which he received three. He was also stabbed in the back of the thigh, with police concluding the incident happened within 10 seconds.
The court was shown footage of Froggatt cycling towards the scene of the stabbing, holding a "very large knife", with the prosecution saying he was "ready for violence".
Froggatt supplied Mr Duffy with cannabis on 7 June, and the meeting on 11 June was under a similar pretence.
The court heard Mr Duffy and an associate planned to steal the e-bike Froggatt was riding, which would be sold to a third party in Nottingham. Mr Duffy was also armed with a hammer.
But an altercation took place and Mr Duffy was fatally stabbed. Froggatt later disposed of the clothes he was wearing, along with the knife and mobile phone.
Froggatt flew to Tenerife on 13 June, but returned a week later and was arrested when he arrived back at East Midlands Airport. Subsequent questioning led to him being charged with Mr Duffy's murder on 23 June, but he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
'Totally heartbreaking'
A victim impact statement from Mr Duffy's mother Louise was read out on behalf of her and his three sisters, describing him as her "precious son" who "adored" his two sons.
It said: "We will miss Corey's sense of humour.
"His sisters are absolutely devastated by his loss. They are struggling to come to terms with what has happened.
"Knowing his boys will never see him again or have him in their lives is totally heartbreaking."
Passing sentence, Judge Shaun Smith KC said the life of Mr Duffy's sons, their mother and his family "will never be the same again".
The judge accepted Froggatt was remorseful and that Mr Duffy and his associate had planned to rob him, but deemed his possession of the knife and attempts to conceal the clothes he was wearing and the weapon were aggravating factors.
