Motorists have been urged to avoid driving through a Derbyshire town after a busy route was closed by police.

Derbyshire Police said it had shut the A617 in Chesterfield on Friday evening before 20:00 BST due to an "ongoing incident".

The road was closed between the Horns Bridge Roundabout and Lordsmill Roundabout

Drivers were urged to use alternative routes when travelling through the town.

A spokesperson said a man had been found injured in the road, but added that "there were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances".
