A slice of the profits from car parking at Spa Lane will go to the hospice

Drivers in a Derbyshire town are supporting the end-of-life care of ill residents when they park up.

A site in Chesterfield has been taken on by charity car park operator Bank Park.

Each time someone pays to park at the 83-space Spa Lane site, money is donated to Ashgate Hospice in the town.

The donations will go towards providing free palliative and end-of-life care for adults with a range of conditions including cancer and kidney disease.

The independent hospice also provides bereavement support.

The site, near the A61 to the rear of The Bridge Inn, is the fourth operated by Bank Park in Chesterfield. Other sites include Malkin Street and Saltergate.

Regional director, Nick Hill said: "This incredible charity [Ashgate Hospice] offers unique help to patients and families living with terminal illness, but also provides much-needed support to families who have lost loved ones."
