Derbyshire road improvements start as part of £4.2m project

A number of roads in Derbyshire are set to undergo improvements as part of a £4.2m project.
Work to surface dress 81 sites across the county started in Bamford on Tuesday.
The county council said the process was designed to "seal the road surface and prolong the life of the road".
The works are expected to be completed by the end of June but are "very weather dependent", the authority added.
The surface dressing process involves sealing the road with a layer of bitumen and then rolling chippings on top, the council said.
A number of main roads are earmarked for improvements, including the A632 Chesterfield Road in Matlock, the A515 Buxton Road in Newton Grange and the A516 Etwall Road in Mickleover.
Works will also take place on locations in Dronfield, Ridgeway, Ashover, Repton, Bamford and Hartshorne.
Councillor Charlotte Cupit, cabinet member for highways assets and transport, said: "We apologise for any disruption while these improvement works take place and while we know the chippings can initially cause frustration for some, we hope you'll understand this is a positive process to improve these roads."
