Police shut Normanton Road to traffic while investigations were carried out

Two men have been arrested after a man was found unconscious following a serious assault.

Derbyshire Police was called to Normanton Road, Derby, at 01:00 BST on Wednesday after the man was discovered.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains, the force added.

The arrested men, both in their 20s, have been detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remain in custody, while a woman in her 20s is being held on suspicion of theft.

Normanton Road was closed for police investigations but has since reopened.
