A busy road in Derby was shut after a lorry carrying furniture crashed into a low bridge.

Police were called to the underpass in Derwent Street, near the city centre, at 15:20 BST on Friday.

The lorry, which had been carrying bedding and mattresses, had crashed into the low bridge subsequently ripping the roof off the vehicle.

The vehicle was recovered from the scene in two pieces and Derwent Road was reopened at 17:15.
