Foundations laid for affordable Barne Barton homes

The foundations have been laid in Devon for an affordable housing scheme.

The development in Barne Barton, Plymouth includes 45 subsidised properties, 46 rented homes and 16 houses for the open market.

The first homes in the £12m scheme are due to be completed in 2011, with the remainder finished in 2012.

Peter Brookshaw from Plymouth City Council said: "We are confident the benefits of these schemes will ripple out to the wider community."
