Plans for a 160-bedroom Hilton Hotel have been unveiled by Exeter International Airport.

The hotel will be located next to the Flybe training academy which will be used as an international training facility for the airline industry.

The complex will be used by passengers and students and will include a restaurant, gym and conference venue.

Management at Exeter Airport said it expected the hotel to open by the end of 2011.

Shuttle service

Jamie Christon managing director of the airport, said: "With the students and the passengers together we're confident that the hotel will be full.

"We're obviously working with East Devon District Council and Flybe to make sure that the hotel is in keeping with the rest of the area."

Mr Christon also said that he hoped a new shuttle service would be started to take hotel clients into the centre of Exeter.
