Sark considering alcohol brewing laws

Sark's government is to consider new alcohol licensing laws to allow beer, cider or wine to be produced.

The island's current laws only deal with the sale of alcohol.

The General Purposes and Advisory Committee has asked for draft laws after a number of people expressed an interest in brewing, it said.

The draft is to consider the regulation of local alcoholic products and also allow the government to impose tax on them, if it was felt necessary.

The matter will be discussed at the next meeting of the island's government, the Chief Pleas, on 6 October.
