Hundreds of sheep stolen from Dartmoor

Hundreds of sheep have been stolen from Dartmoor, police have revealed.

About 370 Scottish Blackface ewes have been taken from moorland near Princetown since March.

The Blackface Sheep Breeders Association said the animals taken from the Long Plantation at Holming Beam would have been worth about £100 each, roughly £37,000 in total.

Officers hope a member of the public may have seen them being loaded into lorries.

They believe it would have taken some time to remove the sheep from the moorland. It is not known exactly when the sheep were stolen.

Police believe they have probably been sold on.
