A former primary school head teacher accused of sexually assaulting children has told a court he is "absolutely devastated" by evidence at the trial.
Neil Dyer, 71, from Plymouth, made the statement while giving evidence at the city's crown court.
The former Widey Court Primary School head teacher denies 26 charges of sexual assault on children and a young man.
They relate to the period between 1979 and 1992.
Mr Dyer, of Stokes Lane, who was then known as Geoffrey Burley, was promoted to deputy head and then head teacher.
While giving evidence, he was asked by his barrister: "You've listened to the evidence of 15 alleged victims during the trial. How did it sound to you?"
Mr Dyer replied he was "absolutely devastated by what I've heard".
"Did you commit any of these offences?" he was asked.
"Not with a sexual intent, no," Mr Dyer replied.
The case continues.
