Plans for a new supermarket in a south Devon town are a step closer after the signing of a conditional contract between a development agency and Tesco.

If it gets the go-ahead, the store in Brixham would be built on the site of the town's car park, the Torbay Development Agency said.

The agency said the store could bring more than 250 new jobs to the town.

However, planning permission was needed and Environment Agency checks must be carried out before work started.
