Tom Daley gets A in Spanish A-level

Olympic medallist Tom Daley has gained an A grade in his Spanish A-level.

The 18-year-old diver, who won bronze in the 10m individual platform at the 2012 Games, tweeted his result and thanked Plymouth College.

He has been a student at the independent school in Devon since 2009 after gaining a scholarship when he was 15.

Daley said the Spanish result added to his A* grade in A2 photography and A grade in AS-level maths.

The Team GB star tweeted: "I got an A in Spanish! Overall I have A* photography (A2), A Spanish (A2) and A maths (AS) :) thanks @PlymColleg1 :D"

Plymouth College, which also counts 100m gold medal swimmer Ruta Meilutyte, 15, among its students, replied on Twitter: "Brilliant, well done. A nice addition to your Olympic bronze medal!"

Speaking to BBC News, Daley said he was "very happy with the results so far".

He said: "I've got two more maths modules to finish, but so far so good.

"The plans now are for me to go back to school, do a couple more maths modules.

"I've got to go to the Junior World Championships in October, in Adelaide, and then it's working towards the World Championships next year."

Daley is to return to Plymouth in September to to continue studying for two further A-levels, college staff said.
