A sailor has died on board a warship docked in Plymouth, police say.
The man was believed to be working on a lift shaft on HMS Bulwark when an industrial accident occurred at about 10:55 BST.
The sailor was declared dead at the scene on board the amphibious assault ship, which is moored in the city's Devonport naval base.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they were investigating the death with the Health and Safety Executive.
A Royal Navy spokesman said the individual's next of kin had been informed.
"The thoughts and sympathies of the naval service are with the deceased's family and friends at this time.
"The incident is currently under investigation, therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further," he said.
The Albion-class vessel has a crew of more than 320.
