Dawlish fence fiasco as mix-up sees estate divided

A housing estate has been split in two by a fence because of an apparent building mix-up - leaving drivers face a two-mile diversion around it.

Carhaix Way in Dawlish has been fenced off because of a 1ft height difference between the two sides of the estate.

Developers on both sides of the dividing line are adamant they followed the plans.

Planning authority Teignbridge District Council and roads authority Devon County Council will be getting together in the New Year to try to sort it out.
