Historical grammar school building in Plympton up for auction

A former grammar school where a famous portrait painter was educated is to be sold at auction.
Joshua Reynolds, born in 1723, attended Plympton Grammar School in Plympton St Maurice, Plymouth.
He was the first president of the Royal Academy and was knighted by King George III in 1769.
Historian Nigel Davies said the Grade II-listed building, which was "a local landmark", would be up for sale on 19 October.
The building where Mr Reynolds's father was schoolmaster is also up for auction along with a neighbouring Victorian house.
Residents in the area hope whoever takes the old school on will conserve it for the future.
Mr Davies said: "We're concerned really that the old building is preserved and made available for public use and visits.
"It's really something of a local landmark."
