Hundreds fill in survey on Mid Devon Council spending
- Published
Hundreds of Devon residents have given their views about how money spent on key services should be prioritised.
Mid Devon District Council spends £17m annually providing services, ranging from rubbish collections to leisure services and planning.
The council said its biggest single expenditure in terms of services was £2.2m on waste collection.
It said people could continue to take part in a survey until 13 December to say what they thought was important.
Annual budget balancing
The council's next largest service-based outgoing was £2m on planning and enforcement services and £1.6m on property maintenance, said the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The council said the money to pay for these services continued to reduce, creating a gap of more than £5m across the next five years.
It said more than £4m of savings had been found in the past decade.
The council is legally obliged to balance its budget each year.
The survey opened at the start of the November.
Topics include: climate change, dealing with economic pressures, and listening to how communities felt about services and where improvements could be made.
The survey was anonymous and a summary of the results were due to be published on the council's website, officials said.
