A popular Devon air show could be cancelled in 2024 unless it finds sponsors, a council says.

Torbay Council said "support from the community is vital" to ensure the English Riviera Airshow could go ahead.

It said a range of packages was being made available to businesses, which also include "pre-event, event, and post event exposure".

The two-day event is scheduled to return to the bay on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June 2024.

'Much planning'

The council said predicted the flight displays could cost "in the region of £120,000".

The 2023 show attracted attracted more than 198,000 people and cost £250,000.

Council research following showed that "for every £1 spent it generated £15.56 for the local economy".

However, Adam Billings, cabinet member for events, said the show "takes a lot of time to plan".

He said: "The English Riviera Airshow is the largest free event in the Bay. For many years we have worked with a third party to help us deliver the event.

"We're now working with our community partners and businesses to bring you 'Your English Riviera Airshow', as we know it is enjoyed by thousands of local people from in and around Torbay."

A community donation page had also been set up for "anyone who enjoys watching the English Riviera Airshow", the council said.
