Organisers of Guernsey's biggest charity event have called on islanders to "reach out" to family in the UK and beyond to get involved.

The Saffery Rotary Walk, which over 25 years has raised more than £1m for charities, is open for "early bird" entries for the 2024 event.

Simon Milsted, walk chairman, said: "We are all so proud of our island."

He said post-pandemic, everyone was encouraged to "reach out to friends and family from the UK or further afield".

The Safferty Trust said "early bird" registration, with a 20% discount, was now open.

It means a fee of £40 is reduced to £32.

Lisa Vizia, trust director, said those who took advantage would get a training head start "in plenty of time".

She added: "Last year's milestone walk was a record-breaking year, and we know our island will continue their astounding efforts to raise money for worthwhile causes across the Bailiwick."

The walk is due to take place on 8 June 2024, with participants choosing to take part individually or in a team.
