Two men have appeared in court after six bronze plaques were stolen from a war memorial.
The plaques were reported stolen from Ilfracombe War Memorial, Church Street, on Thursday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
Jason Vickers, 43, of Barton Tors in Bideford, and Ben Pearsall, 39, of Fore Street in Torrington, were charged with dealing in tainted cultural objects.
The pair pleaded guilty at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
A separate charge of handling stolen goods had been withdrawn, the court heard.
Police recovered the bronze plaques in Bideford after alerting scrap metal dealers in the area.
The men were denied bail and will appear at Exeter Crown Court for sentencing on 12 February.
