Traffic warning for Cedars roundabout in Bickington as works start

Motorists are being warned to expect major disruption in the Barnstaple area as works to a roundabout have begun.
Work on Cedars roundabout at Bickington is expected to last until June.
The works include installing a new pedestrian crossing to help people cross the A3125, and widening an arm of the roundabout to ease traffic flow from Bickington and Fremington.
Warning of "considerable disruption", a county councillor said drivers should avoid the area if possible.
There will be occasional overnight road closures from 18:30 GMT until 07:00 for about 15 nights, but most of the work would be carried out using temporary traffic lights, project bosses said.
Realigning hedge banks
Caroline Leaver, county councillor for Barnstaple South, said: "During the period of installing the lights, there is going to be considerable disruption to ordinary traffic flow and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if they possibly can."
She advised motorists heading from the Bideford or Torrington direction to use the Link Road up to the Stones roundabout.
The work also includes realigning hedge banks, adding new street lighting and installing traffic sensors in the road.
The project is due to be completed in June, project bosses said.
Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council cabinet member for highways, said: "There is never a perfect time for working on the highway, but this project has been planned to start after the Christmas holidays and to avoid as much of the summer as possible.
"Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum but please bear with us."
