Kingsbridge's police station is the latest to reopen to the public in Devon and Cornwall.

The front desk will be manned from 10:00 GMT to 15:00 on weekdays and Saturdays.

Devon and Cornwall Police said people would be able to talk to staff about crime reporting, crime prevention advice and accessing victim services.

It comes as part of a scheme that has resulted in other police stations across the two counties reopening.

While police officers have remained at the site, the station closed to the public in October 2014

Access to police

The force is planning to reopen 27 stations by 2025, with offices in Okehampton, Penzance and Newquay among those already brought back into use.

Other stations in Ilfracombe and Honiton are due to reopen before the end of March.

Alison Hernandez, Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said: "This forms part of the most ambitious programme of police enquiry office reopening in the country and my vision is for face-to face contact with the force to be an option for everyone in our force area.

"This will ensure that wherever you live in Devon and Cornwall - including rural, coastal and urban areas - you will be able to access a police enquiry office."

Four more stations are set to be opened in the coming financial year, police said.

A new police station has also been proposed for Exmouth, but this project has been delayed after hibernating bats were found at the old site in North Street, which will be redeveloped as part of the plans.

East Devon District Council confirmed the discovery of the bats had delayed surveys and the planning application process.

Ms Hernandez said the delay was "driving her batty".
