Biker airlifted to hospital after crash on Devon road

A motorcyclist has sustained life-changing injuries following a crash in Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it happened on the A379 near Shaldon at 14:04 GMT on Sunday.

Officers were called to reports of a single-vehicle crash and the road was closed between Deane Lane and Commons Lane.

The force said a man suffered a "nasty" injury to his leg and was taken by air ambulance to hospital.

Posting on X,, external Devon County Council warned drivers to avoid the area following the crash.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called to a single-vehicle crash on the A379 where a male motorcyclist sustained life-changing but not life-threatening injuries to his leg.

"The injury is quite nasty and he has been taken to hospital by air ambulance."
