Cheyanne Loder is set to appear before Exeter Crown Court in April

A woman charged with murder is to face less serious charges after the prosecution decided it would drop the allegation.

Cheyanne Loder, 32, of Gorwell Road, Barnstaple, was charged with murdering Hayley Adams on 4 November.

She will be charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to do so and the less serious alternative of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

She is expected to appear at Exeter Crown Court on 29 April.

Daniel Pawson-Pounds, prosecuting, told Judge Peter Johnson at the Exeter court the case had been reviewed in the light of a full report by Home Office forensic pathologist Dr Amanda Jeffery.

He said it was not considered possible to prove Ms Loder caused Ms Adams' death.

Ms Loder appeared by video link from Eastwood Park Prison and was remanded in custody.

The judge ordered a further hearing for 2 April to review progress on the case.
