Devon and Cornwall Police officer charged with theft

A Devon and Cornwall Police officer has appeared in court accused of shoplifting.
PC Christopher Spence, 43, of Abbotsham, north Devon, was charged with theft from a shop in Bideford while he was off duty in February.
Mr Spence, who is also based in north Devon, has been suspended from duty.
He denied the charge and was granted bail. He is due to appear before Exeter Crown Court in April.
