Police are appealing for help to identify those responsible for a series of graffiti attacks in Devon.

"Several instances" of graffiti bearing the same tag have appeared across Torbay in recent weeks, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

The tag, which appears to denote the word "ghost", has been left in multiple locations including Torquay seafront.

Insp Chris Lithgow appealed for people with information about the graffiti to come forward.

"I believe that someone in our community knows who has carried out this mindless and unnecessary damage or has information about who may be responsible," he said.

"We've held off making an appeal until now in hopes that our inquiries would identify a suspect but, sadly, we have not been able to so far.

"However, I can reassure you that this behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will take a very robust approach to pursuing and bringing the offenders to justice."
