Weymouth Bay search for missing scallop diver

A sea search has been launched for a diver who went missing in Dorset's Weymouth Bay.

The 45-year-old woman from Surrey was with a party diving for scallops when she became separated from her "buddy" on Saturday afternoon.

The Portland Coastguard helicopter and a number of boats began an immediate search but it was called off for the night at about 2000 GMT.

The search restarted on Sunday but there has so far been no sign of her.

The woman had been diving from a local dive boat on the Adamant Shoal, near the Lulworth Banks, when she disappeared.

Dorset Police are investigating and treating the case as a missing person inquiry.
