Dorset firefighters tackle Wareham Forest fire

  • Published

Firefighters have tackled a heath fire in Dorset's Wareham Forest.

Crews were called to the fire near Wareham Golf Club and the Silent Woman Inn, where a large area of trees, undergrowth and peat was alight.

A fire engine, Land Rover and a specialist off-road vehicle were used to put out the fire and crews remained at the scene to "damp down" the area.

A spokesman said Dorset Fire and Rescue Service officers believed the cause was malicious.
