Poole West Quay development rejected by council

A £100m housing and retail development on Poole seafront has been refused planning permission after the council received objections.
Campaigners branded the plans for West Quay Road a "carbuncle on the quay".
Neptune Consultants Ltd's proposals included more than 400 flats, shops and restaurants and a 12 storey block.
The scheme had been recommended for approval by town planners but was rejected by the council's planning committee.
Councillor Phillip Eades said: "The whole development, we feel, doesn't respect Poole's maritime heritage and history."
A spokesperson for Neptune Constulants Ltd, said the company was "very disappointed" and would be reviewing its options.
The Poole Vision group had opposed the plans which it said were not in keeping with Poole Quay, parts of which date back to the 17th Century.
Spokesman Bill Constance said: "This application is totally inappropriate for an area with such huge potential."
