Plans for a new £8.5m solar farm in West Dorset are set to go on display.

Renewable energy company juwi, wants to create the 19 hectare (46 acre) farm at Caswell Farm, south east of Ryme Intrinseca.

Consisting of up to 31,000 panels, the site would generate enough electricity to power about 1,500 homes.

The plans will be displayed at a public meeting in Yetminster on Wednesday, and then submitted to West Dorset District Council.

Barton Willmore, the planning consultants working on behalf of juwi, said the site had been "carefully chosen by juwi to ensure that it won't have a detrimental impact on the surrounding area".

It also said the 2.5m-high (8ft) solar panels would be raised off the ground, allowing animals to continue to graze on the land below.
