Dorset's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has appointed an unpaid volunteer as an "advocate" in a suburb affected by crime and anti-social behaviour.
Helene Bowman-Brown, 46, will represent PCC Martyn Underhill at community meetings in Boscombe.
Mr Underhill said he had created the role to "act as my eyes and ears and to support my work".
Ms Bowman-Brown, a Boscombe resident for 24 years, said she wanted people to "feel safe in their homes" there.
