The Red Arrows, RAF Typhoon and Vulcan bomber are included in the line-up of aircraft on display at Bournemouth Air Festival this year.

It is the sixth year the event has been held at the 1.5 mile-long (2km) site, located between Bournemouth and Boscombe piers.

During last year's four-day event, part of the beach and cliff-top were evacuated after an unexploded World War II device was discovered near East Overcliff Drive, between the piers.

The 2011 festival was overshadowed by the death of Red Arrows Pilot Flt Lt Jon Egging, whose aircraft crashed near Bournemouth Airport on 20 August.

More than a million people attend the festival each year and, according to the Bournemouth Borough Council, it brings more than £25m into the local economy.

The event supports three nominated armed forces charities - Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), Hounds for Heroes and the Jon Egging Trust.
