Plans to further develop a Grade II-listed former Victorian brewery in Dorset have been approved.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council made the decision on the development at Brewers Quay, Weymouth, on Wednesday.

It will feature 35 homes made up of townhouses and apartments with shops, a restaurant and exhibition space.

Further housing planned for the car park at nearby Newtons Road, made up of six houses and 12 apartments, was also approved.

Brewers Quay which is also home to a museum, auction house and antiques emporium, reopened in March 2013 following the first phase of its redevelopment.

A previous plan which included an 85-bed hotel was withdrawn.
