Three people have died in two separate road traffic collisions across Dorset.

Two died and four others were seriously injured in a two-car collision on the A37 near Dorchester on Friday night.

A Volkswagen Transporter van and a Volkswagen Golf collided three miles north of Grimstone at about 22:15 BST.

Earlier, a woman pedestrian died when she was struck by a Peugeot 106 at the junction of Christchurch Road and Drummond Road in Boscombe. A 34-year-old man has been arrested.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision on the A37 at Break Heart Hill in which a 25-year-old woman from Bridport and a 45-year-old man from Poole died.

The passenger of the Volkswagen Transporter, a 37-year-old woman from Poole, is described as being in a life-threatening condition.

The driver of the Volkswagen Golf, a 28-year-old man from Devon, and two other passengers, a 28-year-old man from the Exeter area and a 26-year-old woman from the Bridport area, had life-changing injuries.

In Boscombe, a 42-year-old woman from Bournemouth suffered serious injuries and died a short time after the collision at 01:17 BST.

A Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.
