Flood warnings issued for Weymouth and West Bay Harbour

A flood warning has been issued by the Environment Agency due to a higher than normal tide at Preston Beach
People in Weymouth and the West Bay areas have been warned to prepare for flooding.
Flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency (EA) for the Preston Beach Road area in Weymouth and West Bay's harbour, beach and esplanade.
The EA has urged people to stay away from "beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous".
It said an update for both areas was due by midday on Wednesday.

Issuing the warnings , external- the EA said water levels would be "higher than normal due to a spring tide, a tidal surge, strong winds and large waves".
Elsewhere a driver was found by fire crews holding onto a tree after the car they were travelling in floated off as they tried to cross a ford near Sherborne.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said the car was "washed down the river" from the ford at Deep Ford Lane in Chetnol".
The service said the 29-year-old driver had managed to climb out of their car to the tree where crews were able to rescue him.
A spokesman warned that drivers should not drive through the lane.
