Bournemouth road closes for two-week reconstruction work

A council is commencing work to "significantly improve" a stretch of a road in Dorset.
Work by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council to reconstruct Ensbury Park Road in Bournemouth is due to start later.
The stretch from Cherries Drive to Wimborne Road will be closed to all vehicles, except the emergency services, for two weeks.
Councillor Andy Hadley said the road had endured "lots of wear and tear".
The council said the work would involve removing the road surface to a depth of almost 200mm.
The material would then be recycled and strengthened with a cement-based product before it got re-laid and a new, fresh asphalt running surface would be applied on top.
The aim is make the road more sustainable and durable for years to come.
During the work, the main diversion route for traffic will be via Wimborne Road, the A360 Castle Lane West and A347 Redhill Drive, with all the side roads in the area open as usual.
The council said it had been "working closely" with Morebus on temporary bus routes via Ashton Road.
Mr Hadley said he understood there was "never a convenient period to carry out work such as this" without causing a level of disruption.
