An NHS clinic has reopened its doors in former council offices after a £14m revamp.

A pop-up clinic was set up on one floor of South Walks House in Dorchester in November 2021 to tackle long waiting lists caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dorset County Hospital (DCH) has now made two floors of the building into a permanent clinical space.

It will be used to run outpatient clinics, offer X-rays and scans, and local anaesthetic procedures.

Dorset County Hospital said clinics at the new centre included orthopaedics, rheumatology, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, orthotics and phlebotomy.

The trust said it had signed a 20-year lease with Dorset Council for the two floors of the building.

It received the £14m to expand the centre from the NHS England elective recovery and community diagnostics programme.
