West Bay rescue: Child saved after becoming stuck in beach mud

A six-year-old has been rescued by emergency services after becoming stuck waist-deep in mud on a beach.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to West Bay Beach, Bridport, Dorset, at about 15:00 GMT on Saturday.

The child was reached by fire crews and a coastguard mud rescue specialist using ladders and salvage sheets.

A fire service spokesperson said the coastguard team cared for the child until the arrival of an ambulance crew.
