The parents of a woman shot dead alongside her daughter in her Essex home have paid a moving tribute to her.

Christine Chambers, 38, and two-year-old Shania were found dead at their home in Braintree on 6 June.

Parents Ken and Jean Chambers thanked friends and well-wishers describing their daughter as "wonderful" and her little girl as "beautiful".

"Chrissie was a wonderful daughter, mother and sister. Shania was a beautiful little girl," they said.

In a statement released by Essex Police the couple said their daughter had a wicked laugh and sense of humour.

"We were proud to have her as a daughter. We also feel blessed to have had Shania in our lives for the short time we did."

A 50-year-old man, named locally as David Oakes, remains in hospital under police guard. Detectives are not looking for anybody else in connection with the inquiry.
