An investigation into alleged environmental damage at a traveller site has found "no significant risk" to human health.

Residents raised concerns about contamination at the Dale Farm site in Essex, which was evicted in 2011.

The Environment Agency, which investigated the claims, said there had been no environmental damage to land.

Basildon Borough Council and traveller representatives have been told of the findings.

About 80 families were evicted from the six-acre site near Basildon after a decade-long planning row over the illegal settlement.

Before the clearance operation, Dale Farm was one of Britain's largest traveller communities.
