Colchester Garrison derelict pool damaged by fire

The former swimming pool building partially collapsed in the fire

A former swimming pool building at Colchester Garrison has been badly damaged by fire.

Seven fire crews tackled the blaze on Circular Road South in the early hours of Friday.

They were called shortly before 02:30 BST and just after 04:00. The incident commander reported the building had partially collapsed.

The fire was extinguished by 07:00. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.

Fire crews have remained at the scene to damp down.
