An ex-prison officer has been charged with misconduct in a public office over claims she had an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.
Elizabeth Surrey, 25, from Chelmsford, was arrested in April after the allegations came to light.
It is understood she has left her role at HMP Chelmsford, a category B prison.
Essex Police confirmed she had been charged and will appear before Chelmsford Magistrates' Court next month.
