Lee Balkwell concrete mixer death: Manslaughter charge

A 44-year-old has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a man found on a concrete mixer at a farm in Essex more than 10 years ago.
The body of Lee Balkwell, 33, was found trapped between the drum and chassis of a mixer lorry near Upminster in 2002.
Simon Bromley, 44, of Upminster, has also been charged with an offence under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
He is due to appear before Basildon magistrates on 27 January.
Essex Police initially said Mr Balkwell's death was the result of an industrial accident, but an inquest ruled that he had been unlawfully killed.
Mr Balkwell died while working at Baldwin's Farm on Denisses Lane, Upminster, between 16 July and 19 July 2002.
The health and safety charge states Mr Bromley, being an employer, "failed to discharge his duty in that he failed to ensure the health and safety at work of employee Mr Balkwell, in relation to to the risks arising from the gunning out of the inside of a Hyamix concrete mixer".
