Jay Whiston had said he did not want trouble, the court heard

A 17-year-old boy stumbled towards a friend saying he had been stabbed outside a party in Essex, a jury has been told.

Jay Whiston, of Clacton, died in hospital after he was twice stabbed in the chest in Colchester, Chelmsford Crown Court has heard.

Edward Redman, 18, of Wayland Drive, Stanway, Colchester, denies murder.

Mr Redman's girlfriend, Shannon Fenlon, his father Gary and brother John deny perverting the course of justice.

One of Jay's friends, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has told the jury how the teenager looked pale after he was fatally wounded.

The friend said Jay, who he had known for six years staggered towards him saying, "I've been stabbed, I know it, I know it."

The stabbing on 8 September, 2012, happened outside a house party organised through a private Facebook page by a 15-year-old girl.

About 100 people attended.

Mr Redman's girlfriend Shannon Fenlon, 19, from Jameson Road, Clacton, denies perverting the course of justice.

Mr Redman's father Gary Redman, 51, of Colchester, and brother John Redman, 19, of Halstead, deny the same charge.

The trial continues.
